Students conclude their summer experience believing that Northeast Ohio is a great place for young leaders to develop professional skills, become meaningfully involved in the community, and have an exciting, rewarding lifestyle.

"There are so many things to do in Cleveland in the summer! The museums are among the best in the country, the theater is amazing, the baseball stadium has a great atmosphere, and the food scene is just wonderful. I could go on and on. I was in the program last summer and I enjoyed it so much that I had to come back again this summer, and I loved it just as much, if not more! All the people involved in the program are just wonderful!"

"SOTC really made my summer unforgettable. It was the combination of an excellent opportunity (paid internship and free housing!), unparalleled networking connections, the welcoming and friendly faces of the other interns, and the amazing exploring we did around Cleveland. It was so much fun and I feel so privileged to be able to say I participated in SOTC this summer. Thank you so much. It was an amazing summer!!!!!"

"SOTC was an excellent opportunity to explore Cleveland. Growing up here, I always felt like I knew the city, but this summer living at Fenn Tower proved me wrong. The past 9 weeks have been an exceptional opportunity to explore downtown Cleveland and all it has to offer. While I enjoyed growing up in Cleveland, SOTC really confirmed my love for the city."

"Summer on the Cuyahoga really allowed me to experience life in Cleveland, exposing me to its best parts and giving me the opportunities to attend events that I may not have been able to if I were here on my own. One of the best parts of the program is that there were 78 other interns with whom I could share these experiences. There was never a dull moment. Not only did I learn a lot about Cleveland and NEO, but I also developed significantly personally. The professional events, my internship, and meeting people from such diverse backgrounds allowed me to understand the kind of lifestyle best suited to me in the future. That's what an internship should be about--not only learning new skills, but also learning about oneself. One of the best summers I've ever had! I will definitely remember it forever."

"The single most important thing I gained from the experience was meeting so many people who are leaders in their different ways in the city, realizing that Cleveland is unique and unlike the major cities grads usually find attractive (New York, D.C., etc.) because it has cultural attractions and big city benefits while allowing individuals to truly make visible differences and shape the city’s growth and success."

"Cleveland was a fantastic place to be this summer. I had never been to the Midwest before, never mind lived so far away from my parents (I go to school about 10 minutes from home), so this was a big, somewhat scary adventure for me! But as soon as I got to Cleveland, I immediately felt welcomed. I got two job offers out of the summer, met amazing people, made some of my best friends, and had the experience of the lifetime. I can't thank SOTC enough!"

"Twas my first day in Cleveland and all through the halls; Other students were reading the facts on our walls. Some kids were snuggled up warm in their suites; While others hit East 4th and drank liquid treats. That’s what's great about Cleveland, there is fun for all; A golf course or the theater or Legacy Mall. Volunteering on weekends or just sleeping in; Enough food to get fat but enough bikes to stay thin. We saw the Cavs try; they had a great shot; We biked the towpath and we ate dogs a lot. We went on a boat and we felt really Lean; We saw where they take out a sick lion’s spleen. So many events in just one summer’s time; Far too many events to put into a rhyme. So to sum it all up: it was fun, total blast; My only complaint was it went by too fast."
